News: The Unesco Heritage

The UNESCO World Heritage Committee, during the meeting held in December 1995 in Berlin, welcomed Crespi d’Adda in the World Heritage List, as “unique outstanding example of company town".
The company town of Crespi d’Adda is nowadays one of the protected Italian sites (the fifth site in the world).
Crespi d’Adda, nearby Capriate San Gervasio, is an unique outstanding example of 19th-century company town in the world. Its position along the middle course of the river Adda, crib of the Italian industrial revolution, and the state of preservation of both the buildings and the urban plant are really important. Crespi d’Adda has an urban plant completely preserved, contrarily to the other Italian and international company towns. The factory has been working until December 2003.
